Darwin Nunez absence explained as Jurgen Klopp makes five Liverpool changes for Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp makes five changes for the visit of Arsenal as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah return.

Salah was a substitute for Tuesday's goalless draw with Chelsea as Van Dijk missed out entirely but the duo are back in for the Easter Sunday visit from the Premier League leaders as Klopp makes a host of changes from the game at Stamford Bridge.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are restored to the side in their usual full-back roles, while Cody Gakpo leads the line for Liverpool against Mikel Arteta's men.

Klopp keeps faith with the same midfield trio that started the game in London earlier this week as Curtis Jones makes back-to-back starts for the first time this season. Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson will slot in alongside the academy graduate.

Darwin Nunez misses out through illness as the Uruguay international moves to the substitutes' bench alongside Roberto Firmino, while Thiago Alcantara makes his first appearance in a match-day squad since the 3-0 defeat to Wolves.

The Spain international returned to full team training earlier this week and is back in the squad to hand Klopp a significant midfield boost.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Thiago, Milner, Firmino, Elliott, Tsimikas, Nunez, Matip.
