Darwin Nunez has joked he doesn’t "understand anything" that Jurgen Klopp says when playing for Liverpool
The Reds spent big money on the forward in the summer transfer window following a goal-laden spell with Portuguese giants Benfica. However, the move hasn’t quite gone to plan for the 23-year-old so far, with Nunez having just two goals to his name in all competitions having found the net against Manchester City in the Community Shield and on his Premier League debut at Fulham on the opening day.
Klopp has been attempting to find a solution to the Uruguayan’s current lean spell and used him in an attacking partnership with Diogo Jota during Liverpool ’s 2-0 Champions League win over Rangers. However, Nunez says he is struggling to get used to the German’s accent when he speaks English.
Speaking to ESPN Vivo, he said: “Truthfully, when he [Klopp] speaks I don’t understand anything.”
Nunez was unable to end his goal drought against Rangers on Tuesday evening, although it was not for the lack of trying. He was denied by goalkeeper Allan McGregor on a number of occasions and boss Klopp was impressed with the way that Nunez adapted to his demands and remains in no doubt that he will have a bright future at Anfield.
The Kop boss said: “We can see that. The way the boys up front moved together was extremely, extremely good for only one session working on it, to be honest.
“We never did it before. We had now one session and that with low intensity because we only played recently.
“You saw how good a striker he [Nunez] is to be constantly in those situations. Everybody saw tonight that this will happen. So all good."

Nunez has another chance to halt his stuttering spell in front of goal this weekend, but his Liverpool side face a tough assignment against current Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether he retains his place in the starting XI with attacking colleague Roberto Firmino having scored twice in the 3-3 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield last time out.
Nunez has so far only started two Premier League matches, with the red card that he was given against Crystal Palace for a headbutt on Joachim Andersen seeing him miss three games.
