Darwin Nunez backed by Trent Alexander-Arnold as Thiago helps new Liverpool striker

Here's your Liverpool FC morning digest on Sunday, July 17.

Trent Alexander-Arnold defends Darwin Nunez and makes Liverpool goals prediction

Trent Alexander-Arnold has backed Darwin Nunez to open his Liverpool account sooner rather than later and believes goals will come like 'London buses' for the striker.

Nunez has come in for some criticism from rival fans after his pre-season displays against Manchester United and Crystal Palace. The Uruguayan completed his move from Benfica in June for an initial fee of £64million that could rise to £85million. Alexander-Arnold believes Nunez needs time to adapt to Liverpool's style of play and his new team-mates before fans see the best of the Uruguayan forward.

Speaking after Liverpool's 2-0 win over Palace on Friday, Alexander-Arnold said: "He's still kind of learning how we play, we're learning how he plays and soon enough we'll get that connection. I'm sure we'll be able to supply him with the ball to score goals. You can see he's itching for that first goal, but I'm sure once it comes it will be like London buses. We'll back him."

Liverpool fans love what they have spotted Thiago doing for Darwin Nunez

Liverpool midfielder Thiago could have a future career in coaching or management, if his current dealings with Darwin Nunez are anything to go by.

Thiago may be one of the most decorated players in European football, but is also multilingual. Italian-born with Brazilian parents, The 31-year-old moved to Spain with his professional footballer father, Mazinho, when he was five years old, before joining Barcelona at the age of 14.

Fast-forward to 2022 and the Spain international is helping new big-money striker Nunez adapt to his new surroundings by relaying instructions from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. Uruguay international Nunez is not yet developed in the English language but is having to learn the key football terminology quickly, as the Reds' backroom staff convey their pre-season messages to the players.

Videos online - which have been widely shared by Liverpool fans - show Klopp delivering training-ground instructions to Nunez before team-mate Thiago relays the information in Spanish, so that the summer signing from Benfica can fully understand what is expected of him.
