Tactical police have arrested a 53-year-old man at a large property in the Northern Territory's most exclusive suburb, allegedly relating to violent offences committed this year.
Photos sent to the ABC show heavily armed police and organised crime squad detectives swarming the property to arrest the man on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at 8am, as neighbours and commuters watched on.
In a statement, Detective Senior Sergeant Wayne Newell said the offences relate to a "serious harm incident that allegedly occurred earlier this month".
"It is believed he was temporarily residing at the location," police said.
"He remains in custody."
On Friday morning, police announced the man had been charged with nine offences, including serious harm, drug possession and firearm related charges.
The property where the arrest took place sits on a hill in the marina view suburb of Cullen Bay, and last went on the market in 2019 for nearly $900,000.
Undercover detectives remained at the property on Thursday morning following the man's arrest.
The dramatic scene comes just days after an unrelated incident in Darwin's rural area, in which police arrested two men at gunpoint in the drive-through of a fast-food restaurant.
