Michael Kennedy insists there will be “no excuses” from his side as they get set to face a mammoth pile-up of fixtures.
Darvel are getting set to play 19 games in just six weeks as they are playing catch-up due to their cup commitments and postponements.
It starts with a trip to Perth on Wednesday night as the Ayrshire side get set to do battle with East of Scotland Premier side Jeanfield Swifts in the South Challenge Cup.
One ray of light for Kennedy’s side is that they have almost a full clean bill of health heading into this run of three games a week.
He said: “I think if it was just over maybe two or three weeks you could manage it better, but the reality of it is that it’s going to be like this until the end of the season.
“But as I say we have a strong squad, a good backroom team so we will be as prepared as well as we can.
“There can’t be any excuses on our part, we had a good run in the Scottish Cup and our park has let us down on a number of occasions, so the reality is it’s our own doing – obviously the park isn’t but it’s our issue.
“So it’s a case of getting our heads down and just getting on with it, we certainly won’t be making excuses.”
Kennedy added: “The only thing in our favour is that we have everyone back nearly, Craig Moore should be back in training this week and pretty much everyone else is good to go.
“We have a strong, fit and healthy squad, we are in as good a position as we possibly could be with the demands in front of us.
“But I don’t think anyone is doubting that 19 games in six weeks is an astonishing number of games.
“We will wait and see how it goes, all we can do is take each game as it comes.
Wednesday’s clash with Jeanfield is a rearranged fixture from Saturday, and Kennedy admits a midweek trip to Perth is far from ideal.
He said: “We’d have preferred that to be moved to Saturday, but ultimately it’s booked in for Wednesday night.
“I have heard good things about them, the reports I’ve received suggest they are a strong side that like to play attractive football.
“It’ll be a good game, I’d imagine it’ll be an entertaining affair so I am looking forward to it.”
Despite the fixture build-up, Kennedy insists his side will still be vying to win the two cups they are in as well as focusing on the league campaign.
They are still in the aforementioned South Challenge Cup as well as the Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Cup, with a clash against Bellshill lying in wait next month.
“We want to do well in the cups we are still in,” Kennedy said. “The South Challenge Cup is a massive cup.
“For anyone to win it will be a massive achievement, the quality in the teams competing is good, you want to be in amongst that.
“Then the West of Scotland Cup, the chairman’s company sponsor it so that has a wee bit of added pressure.
“You play football to win trophies, that’s what we want to be saying at the end of the season.”
