Darren Moore's 'really good' Newcastle United and Eddie Howe verdict following FA Cup draw

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore is looking forward to welcoming Newcastle United to Hillsborough after the Owls were drawn against Newcastle United in the FA Cup Third Round. Eddie Howe will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season when they were dumped out of the competition by League One side Cambridge United at St. James' Park.

For the second season in a row, the Magpies have been drawn against a side in the third division who are out to cause an upset. Moore's men have already shown they're a match for Premier League opposition, having drawn with Southampton in the Carabao Cup earlier this season - the Saints advancing through to the next round via penalties.

Moore was full of praise for the work Howe has done on Tyneside since arriving over a year ago. The Toon are currently sat in third place in the Premier League and still involved in three cup competitions.

Moore told the club's website: "I think it’s a great draw but the thing for me is that I am so pleased for the fans. To get a Premier League team down at Hillsborough where the supporters can see their team compete against real good top flight opposition, it will be great.

"For me when I saw the draw, I was just pleased for the fans and when the tie comes round we will give our full focus to it but initially now, I’m just pleased for everyone connected to the club because it’s a fantastic cup draw.

"With everything that has gone on at Newcastle, the work Eddie is doing has been really, really good and for us to pit our wits against them is going to be good for us. We’ve played against Premier League opposition earlier in the Carabao Cup (Southampton) and we had a real good game and acquitted ourselves very well. We’ll have to do much of the same again because as we know they are a very good side."
