Darko Gyabi has explained the reason behind him leaving Manchester City and joining Leeds United. On Monday it was announced that Gyabi would be joining Leeds on a permanent deal after Kalvin Phillips had earlier made the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
The 18-year-old midfielder failed to make a senior squad appearance at City but despite having an injury-riddled season, he did impress in Manchester. Speaking to LUTV after his arrival in Yorkshire, Gyabi explained his reasoning for making the switch to Elland Road.
He said: "I am really excited. Obviously I have seen that they’ve given the young players a lot of opportunities in the first team here. I think it was nine debuts in the Premier League last season, so that’s really good.

"I know a bit about the club, it’s a great club. The fans are what has attracted me the most.
"I played here last season and the fans were crazy in an Under-23s game. So, I can’t imagine how that’s going to be in a full stadium."
Since arriving from Millwall's academy in 2018, Gyabi has made 39 appearances for City's youth teams. The Blues will receive £5m from the sale.
