Darja Varfolomeev, 17, clinches gold in rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around event.

German rhythmic gymnast Darja Varfolomeev showcased her exceptional skills by clinching the gold medal in the individual all-around event on Friday. The 17-year-old athlete delivered a remarkable performance, accumulating a total of 142.850 points across the four apparatus.

Varfolomeev's dominance was evident as she secured the top position in three out of the four elements – the hoop, ball, and clubs. She also displayed her versatility by finishing second in the ribbon routine, further solidifying her position as a top contender in the sport.

This victory adds to Varfolomeev's impressive track record, as she had previously claimed all five individual gold medals at the 2023 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Valencia, Spain. Notably, she achieved this feat at the age of 16, making her the youngest rhythmic gymnast to achieve a clean sweep at a world championship.

Following closely behind Varfolomeev was Bulgaria's Boryana Kaleyn, who secured the silver medal with a total of 140.600 points. Italy's Sofia Raffaeli also delivered a commendable performance, earning the bronze medal with 136.300 points.

Varfolomeev's consistent success and exceptional talent have solidified her position as a rising star in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. Her dedication and skill have undoubtedly set her apart as a formidable force to be reckoned with in future competitions.
