Darius' touching gesture to Coleen Nolan after sister Linda's incurable cancer diagnosis

Darius Campbell Danesh offered Coleen Nolan words of comfort when she returned to Loose Women after revealing her sister Linda had been diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Pop Idol star Darius tragically died aged 41 his family announced on Tuesday, with the singer found dead in bed at his apartment in the US.

Following his death, fans have remembered how dedicated Darius was in raising awareness and funds for Cancer Research after both of his parents battled cancer.

In a 2017 interview, Darius made a touching gesture to Coleen, who was struggling to get through filming due to her heartache over her sister Linda.

Linda, 63, is living with incurable cancer and is having palliative care, five years on from her diagnosis.

Ruth Langsford said during the chat: "We all help each other through tough times, you've seen us doing that with Coleen today."

Reaching his hand out, Darius said: "Coleen I'm so so sorry to hear about the news. I just want you to know that I have seen with my parents that they have come through.

"My dad was diagnosed with, my mum was a cancer specialist at the number one clinic in Scotland.

"So mum was treating cancer patients and then was at the other side getting chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and it's been two years as of this month that they have celebrated that my mum is all-clear.

"So it's not only possible for us to come through the other side. I have a photograph. That was them on Saturday where I played as a child.

"I couldn't be with them but they sent me this little photograph saying: 'thinking of you'."

Darius helped to raise thousands for charity before his untimely death.

Cancer Research UK in Scotland paid tribute after his passing.

They said in a statement: "Darius Campbell Danesh had supported Cancer Research UK on a number of occasions, including in 2017 when he sang at our Christmas carol concert at Glasgow Cathedral.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of his death and our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Darius was also an ambassador for The Prince's Trust, a charity which helps disadvantaged young people.

His work with the trust stretches back to his Pop Idol days when a gig in 2002 helped raise £300,000 for the charity.
