Darius Campbell Danesh: Cause of singer’s sudden death may not be known for weeks

Darius Campbell Danesh’s cause of death may not be known for weeks after officials revealed that their investigation was “pending.”

The 41-year-old pop idol star was found dead on August 11 at his residence in Minnesota, sending shockwaves through the entertainment world.

Tributes have continued to pour in for the Colourblind singer after his family confirmed this week that he had passed away.

Investigators currently looking into a cause of death are said to be waiting for toxicology results, which can sometimes take weeks.

A police officer has said: “The investigation into the cause of his death is still pending. There is no known threat to the public.”

The Scottish singer’s death was announced on Wednesday by his family in a statement that read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh. Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.

“The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances. The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue.”

Speculation about the singer’s cause of death came as fans questioned if there was a connection to Darius’ residence and the nearby Mayo Clinic hospital.

Campbell, who was often based in California, had been staying at The Berkman apartments in Rochester, Minnesota when he was found unresponsive by police.

The luxury apartment suites are used by both short-term and long-term residents and are known to house many people working or visiting the Mayo Clinic. The hospital is considered one of the best in the world and has treated high-profile patients such as Muhammad Ali and Johnny Cash.

The Mayo Clinic’s Saint Marys hospital campus is just minutes away from the residential building where Campbell was staying.
