Residents in Florida have been caught cheating death by wakeboarding and swimming in flooded cities during Hurricane Ian.
Whilst the Category 4 hurricane battered large parts of Florida with flooding, palm trees bending in the wind and hospital roofs being torn up, some locals foolishly decided to go swimming.
Local politicians were urging residents to evacuate their homes ahead of Hurricane Ian but some chose to stay and instead went swimming in the hurricane.
Despite the life-threatening hurricane, others decided to go wakeboarding and even wave their American flags in the 155mph wind.
Locals went for a swim in the swells, which reached upwards of 18-feet, as people ignored the dangerous weather.
City officials warned people to take shelter and not go swimming or wakeboarding as Governor Ron DeSantis pleaded with locals to stay in their homes and wait for the weather to clam.
However, his plea went unnoticed by some Americans as swimmers in Fort Meyers decided to try and go for a swim.
The footage was captured by a CCTV camera which showed teenagers walking off a pier as they made their way into the sea.
At the time of their swim the hurricane was a Category 4 and was set to become a Category 5.
As the clip surfaced social media users were less than impressed with their actions.
One Twitter user wrote: "'Category 5 & these idiots are out tempting fate. Come collect them before they disappear."
The group went for a dip at 10am as the storm was hitting winds of 155pm - which is only the fifth storm in history to do so.
Storm Ian didn't seem to stop one patriotic man as he was seen walking his street waving the American flag in coastal Cape Coral.
Whilst another man was waving a flag which criticised President Biden as the Trump supporter let his feelings be known during the hurricane.
The clip, which was posted on TikTok, shows him waving a flag which says ' ' F**k Biden".
Moreover, a man was seen on a jet ski whilst the storm was taking place despite the high winds and severe swells.
Footage was uploaded to Twitter which said: "My neighbour in Florida just sent me a video of a man out jetskiing."
The clip has been viewed over 2.7million times with social media users queuing up to share their disbelieve at the foolishness of the man.
He miraculously appears to stay up in the video - as the palm trees in the background bend.
In another clip, a man is seen paddle boarding just moments before the hurricane was about to hit - which saw the Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann plea with residents to stay indoors.
It comes just hours after multiple swimmers had to be rescued from the sea.
