Daredevil Carol Vorderman confesses her life-long 'biggest fear' in candid conversation with Myleene Klass

Countdown legend and pilot Carol Vorderman has shed some light on her biggest phobia during a candid conversation with former Hear'Say member and TV presenter Myleene Klass. The 61-year-old Clifton resident spoke to Myleene, 44, as part of her BBC Radio Wales show on Saturday, May 14.

Myleene appeared on Carol's show to talk about her latest literary offering - a self-help book. 'They Don’t Teach This at School: Essential Knowledge to Tackle Everyday Challenges' was released last week, and provides information and tips on writing CVs, dealing with medical emergencies, checking pressure on car tyres, and escaping from a burning building.

One of the nuggets of advice that really stuck out to Carol was Myleene's tips on escaping from a burning building. In her book, Myleene focuses on the importance of fire safety procedures, and how to be prepared in the event of a fire breaking out at your family home, The Mirror reports.

As mum-of-three Myleene chatted about her book, Carol revealed that she has had a life-long fear of house fires. On-air, Carol said: "Well that was going to be my next one to be perfectly honest, because it’s probably my biggest fear.

"You know, I’ve lived in lots of different properties through the years. And it is like: 'How are we going to get out? How are we going to get out?

"'How are we going to get out?! What happens if there’s smoke?'

She concluded: "So yeah, I would say it was my biggest fear, to be honest."

Following the Countdown whizz's confession, Myleene pointed out that, despite fire drills being frequently carried out in offices and schools, not many people have a procedure in place in their own home. She wondered whether there would be less fear amongst homeowners if people decided to get clued up on fire safety, educate their children and draw up plans with the rest of their households in the event of a fire.

Myleene also gave a useful parenting tip, as she revealed that she turned learning about fire safety into a fun game with her children. The Smooth Radio presenter told Carol how she makes it a competition between her three children to find the exits in their home, and how she teaches them how to respond in different scenarios.

The former Dancing on Ice contestant has three children, 14-year-old Ava, ten-year-old Hero, and two-year-old Apollo. Myleene's two eldest children are from her first marriage to Graham Quinn, from whom she got divorced in 2013. She shares her youngest son, Apollo, with her fiancé Simon Motson.
