Darcey Bussell's career in pictures told through new book featuring rare and unseen photographs

A new book from Darcey Bussell features rare and behind-the-scenes pictures from throughout the dancer's career.

Evolved is Bussell's first book in more than six years, and shows the now retired former Royal Ballet principal at various stages in her career, from early performances to her current position as judge on Strictly Come Dancing.

With images shot by Marino Testino, Annie Leibovitz and Lord Snowdon, the book depicts rehearsals and fashion shoots, accompanied by anecdotes and previously unheard stories by Bussell.

In a career spanning 30 years, she became the youngest principal dancer the Royal Ballet had seen at the age of 20, growing into one of the country’s greatest ballerinas.

After being made a CBE, Bussell performed her final ballet role in 2007. She was presented with a damehood earlier this year.

Darcey Bussell: Evolved is published by Hardie Grant (£30) and coincides with the dancer’s 50th birthday.
