Dapper Dan Walker enjoys a day at Aintree Races after BBC exit announcement

Dan Walker looked smart and relaxed as he enjoyed a day at Aintree Races, after announcing his shock move to Channel 5.

The 45-year-old, who announced earlier this week that he is leaving his role on BBC Breakfast after eight years, looked dapper as he took in the races at Aintree.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant wore a navy three piece suit with white pocket square detail.

He also wore a white shirt with a dark blue polka-dot tie, as he arrives for Ladies Day.

The presenter walked through the event with friends, later posting a picture of himself smiling next to former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, in a smart marquee.

"Lovely to catch up with the boss at Aintree. He had some good career advice as ever", Dan said, followed by a laughing face emoji.

Earlier this afternoon, he and his fellow BBC co-host Sally Nugent posed up a storm as they beamed for a photo together.

Sally looked stylish as she wore a long black and white polka dot dress, with ruched sleeves.

"What a gorgeous day at Aintree with my professional partner," Dan tweeted.

Dan announced on Monday he was set to join Channel 5 within the next few weeks after bosses gave him an "opportunity" he couldn't turn down.

Dan addressed his decision to move to Channel 5 on Tuesday's show as he told his Sally: "This has been a really difficult decision for me. Probably the hardest decision I've had to make in my career.

"Because I love you to bits and I love working with you."

"I love you too, Daniel," Sally interjected.

Dan continued: "And I love the team at BBC Breakfast. These six years I've had on this sofa have been the best six years of my career by some distance. But I think sometimes opportunities come by and you have to grab them, don't you?

"I've never ever been motivated by money in any job that I've ever taken and even though I love BBC Breakfast and everybody that works on the show, it's a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5. And also, go and make some other programmes outside of here."

Dan joined BBC's Football Focus in 2009, which he hosted until 2021, when he decided to step down as Alex Scott took over.

He has been presenting BBC Breakfast since 2016 and has also hosted shows on BBC Radio 5 Live and reported for Match of the Day.

Following his announcement, viewers took to Twitter to share kind words.

One viewer wrote: "Mornings won't be the same. We'll miss you!", while another added: "Going to miss your positivity on a morning".

A third fan chimed: "So sorry to see you go. Wishing you the best of luck for the future. Will miss you terribly though. What’s up with the red couch? Is it the early hours? Can’t say I blame you."
