Danny Welbeck sends Manchester United warning ahead of FA Cup semi-final vs Brighton

Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck insists his Brighton side have planned multiple approaches for this afternoon's FA Cup semi-final clash.

Brighton face United at Wembley with both sides looking to book a final date against Manchester City in June. Erik ten Hag's side come into the meeting off the back of defeat in Seville and Europa League elimination on Thursday, with the Dutchman keen to see his side bounce back.

But in Brighton they face a side playing some of the best football in the Premier League and making a late push for European football. And while Welbeck knows of United's quality, he and his Seagulls side will go into the clash well prepared.

“I think United have definitely improved a lot this season,” Welbeck told Brighton's media team. “They’ve been a lot more consistent with their performances and they’ve got some great players, and players who are really hitting form so they’re a dangerous team. We have to prepare in the same way we always do and make sure we’re ready for a really tough match.

“We’ve obviously got to respect whoever we’re playing but it’s more about what we want to do with the ball. Sometimes we’re going into a game and we’ve got three ways of playing which we’ve worked on during the week. We’ve always got a way around it because we’re always ready.

“There’s always difficult matches coming up so it’s important to see it as another game rather than looking at the occasion, because we really do prepare well for every single game.

“It’s great for the club to be involved in these occasions and hopefully this is just the start, that this is something that we can build on and keep on improving as a team and as a club.”
