Danny Murphy is in agreement with former team-mate Jamie Carragher that changes need to be made in the Liverpool defence.
The Reds were humiliated on their own patch by Real Madrid on Tuesday night after being beaten 5-2 in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
After going 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes, Liverpool were pegged back Madrid as they went into the half-time break level. The second half was certainly one to forget for Jurgen Klopp and his side.

After a shambolic defensive display at Anfield against Carlo Ancelotti's side, Liverpool are all-but out of the Champions League and Carragher didn't hold back in his criticism of the Reds on CBS Sports.
He said: "Some of the players there…Joe Gomez tonight, we’ve all had bad nights as players and maybe I shouldn’t kick someone when they’re down because I’m sure he’ll feel terrible. But we keep talking about midfield players Liverpool need – and that’s right – I think Liverpool need defenders as well."
Murphy, meanwhile, believes the squad has to 'evolve' as the former Red picked out Joel Matip as someone who could lose his place at Liverpool.
"So some of them are definitely going to go, maybe a new centre-half, Matip has been there seven or eight years," Murphy told TalkSPORT. "Matip has been great by the way, it’s not a criticism of him, but there’s a time where the squad has to evolve."
