Danny Murphy has claimed that Liverpool can still catch Manchester City after they beat Brentford 3-0 on Sunday.
The Reds ran out comfortable winners at Anfield thanks to goals from Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino.
The victory moved Jurgen Klopp’s side above Chelsea into second spot in the table and cut the gap to league leaders City to 11 points.
Liverpool also have a game in hand over the champions and travel to the Etihad on April 9.

However, Guardiola’s side have won their last 12 Premier League games and are showing no signs of slowing down.
Murphy concedes catching City will be a near impossible task but is adamant there will be a belief at his old club that it can be done.
“At the moment for Liverpool results are better than performances. He said whilst discussing the Reds’ title hopes on Match of the Day.
“You'd rather play badly and win at this stage of the season.
“To catch City is like climbing Everest, but it has been climbed before.
“Liverpool are the only team who have taken the title off City in recent years, so there’s got to be some belief in there.
“I think they'll believe inside Anfield.”
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright echoed Murphy’s view and emphasised the importance of staying within striking distance of City, so that they can capitalise on the return of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane from the African Cup of Nations.
He added: “What they want is that by the time the main men (Salah and Mane) come back that they’re still in around it.
“I still cannot see City dropping points but Liverpool cannot afford to drop any points”
