Danny Miller nearly bagged a major role in a different soap before starring in Emmerdale

Many Emmerdale fans have been delighted to see show legend Danny Miller back in the soap as part of its 50th-anniversary storylines.

Danny Miller, 31, known to millions as Aaron Dingle has returned to Emmerdale temporarily as part of its milestone. The celebrations are coming to a head with an hour-long special airing at 7pm on Sunday, October 16.

Unsurprisingly, Danny, who won last year’s series of I’m a Celeb, has been in huge demand during his short stint back in the village. He’s been reflecting on his time in Emmerdale as well as opening up about his career.

"I was going for auditions and getting next to nothing," Danny, who joined Emmerdale in 2008 and left last year, said, published by whatttowatch.com. "I’d had a lucky streak getting Grange Hill when I was 15, and thought everything was going to fall into place and I was going to be getting parts like that all the time. But it wasn’t the case."

We know soapland can be a small place with actors turning up in rival programmes. If things had been different we may never have seen Danny Miller in Emmerdale as he tried for a part in fellow ITV soap Coronation Street.

"I auditioned to play Michelle Connor’s son Ryan and got down to the last few and had a screen test with Kym Marsh." A role he ultimately didn’t get.

As we’ve previously reported, Danny has teased he might return to Emmerdale for the soap’s 60th anniversary. “It depends how many kids I’ve got then and how much of my mortgage needs paying,” Danny said in jest.

“There’s never a chance of me saying ‘I’ll never go back’. Although obviously when I get the James Bond role things might be different.”
