Danny Miller 'knocked to ground' on night out after defending pal over 'disturbing' homophobia

Former Emmerdale actor Danny Miller was filmed being knocked to the ground after becoming embroiled in a nasty brawl with a nightclub bouncer.

The I'm A Celebrity winner, 31, had been enjoying a night out in Skegness' The Hive when the evening turned ugly over another guest's "disturbing" homophobic remarks.

It is believed that the fight had been sparked by homophobic comments on Sunday - the same day that Lioness Jill Scott had been crowned the new Queen of the Jungle.

Those who had seen the brawl take place said the actor had been defending a friend who had been hit with "disturbing" homophobic abuse.

Security staff at the venue are believed to have been "unaware" over the circumstances of the dispute when they intervened.

One onlooker, quarry worker Brandon Driver, told The Sun that he had been out with some of his mates when he filmed what happened.

"I don't know if [Miller] was injured. It was a hard slam against the wall though, and he did seem to hit his head," he said.

The Mirror has reached out to Danny's reps for comment.

Danny had not appeared in Australia to hand over his crown to Jill and had instead been in the seaside town for a meet and greet.

The day after her win, Danny had taken to Instagram on Monday to congratulate her, writing: "Congratulations @jillscottjs8! What a worthy winner. You had the votes in our household."

The Hive told the publication: "We are aware of the incident and the initial details are as follows.

"We stress that these are initial findings and investigations are still ongoing.

"Danny was in a booth enjoying the evening with some friends, some clubbers were allowed in the booth from time to time to take pictures with Danny.

"At some point a clubber who had come into the booth, was at first joking, but then became verbally abusive to a member of Danny's party and made some very disturbing homophobic comments.

"The member of the party was clearly distressed and Danny tried to calm the situation down.

"The door staff proceeded to remove the offending individual but he continued to make homophobic comments.

"Some members of the door-staff team were unaware that Danny was in fact standing up for one of his party against homophobic comments and this sadly let to an unfortunate escalation of the situation."
