Danny MacAskill falls from Edinburgh phone box onto iPhone screen during stunt

Scottish professional trials cyclist Danny MacAskill has returned to Edinburgh to record some more hair-raising stunts.

In one of the performer's newest clips online, uploaded to TikTok, he climbs on top of a telephone box on the Royal Mile with his bike and drops down onto the screen of the new iPhone 14.

The test was designed to see if the screen of the phone would crack under the pressure of the back wheel and Danny's weight. The 36-year-old has become a phenomenon all over the world, travelling to different cities to see what type of architecture he can hope over on his bike. More recently, in March, he was filmed on the blade of a windmill in one of his most dangerous clips to date.

Danny explained that by taking part in the stunt, hundreds of feet in the air, he was helping to raise awareness for climate change ahead of Cop26 in Glasgow earlier in the year. This particular clip reached over four million views in just one week, with viewers quick to point out that MacAskill was not being held up by a harness or safety equipment.

More recently, a trip back to Edinburgh in September meant Danny was on the hunt for areas in which he had not already performed some of his signature moves. While most would walk past a red telephone box and not even give it a second of their attention, Danny views every object as one to work into a new stunt.

After steadying himself on top and placing a new iPhone 14 on the cobbles with the screen facing the sky and recording from below, Danny slowly slid off and landed bang-on his target. Surprisingly, the phone was completely un-damaged after being landed on.

In a more recent slip, posted just a day ago, MacAskill raced to the top of Princes Street Gardens, outside the National Galleries of Scotland, and began his decline down many hills while balancing on his front wheel, with the rear extended in the air.

Danny speeds up to climb the three mini dunes and then hoists himself up on one wheel and begins to fall down, with a loud cheer from on-lookers audible after making his way to the bottom.
