Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer is set to make his first-ever outing for the England Charity team at this year's Soccer Aid.
The former Mick Carter actor, 45, will be kept busy for the next couple of weeks as he will train and get to grips with playing alongside a whole host of famous faces to raise money for charity.
Speaking of his participation in the annual charity event, Danny said: “It's amazing to be able to be part of something that helps. I do think that fame and celebrity is taken for granted a lot, and I think there are not enough famous people doing enough to put something back.
"If you can add your face to something to raise awareness and to raise a few quid, it can only be a beautiful thing.
“I love football, always loved football and I used to play it a lot when I was younger. I've always lived by the mantra 'you’ve got to feel the fear and do it anyway'. We've got to win it."
Danny went on: "Im quite close to my future son-in-law Jarrod Bowen, I'm sure we'll have a kick about in the garden and I'm sure he'll give me a few tips. If I can play a fifth as well as Jarrod Bowen plays, I'll be alright. Buy your tickets and come support us on Sunday 11th June.”
The former soap star will join Paddy McGuinness, Liam Payne, Scarlette Douglas, Bugzy Malone and former England women’s footballer and queen of the jungle Jill Scott in the line-up.
Stormzy will be heading up the England management team, alongside Line Of Duty actress Vicky McClure, Harry Redknapp, Emma Hayes and David Seaman.
This year the team will be managed by Martin Compston and Irish soccer star, Robbie Keane.
Soccer Aid for Unicef 2023 takes place on Sunday, June 11 at Manchester United ’s Old Trafford.
The fixture has raised more than £75m for charity since it first took place in 2006, with Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes - both of whom played in the inaugural event - founding the initiative.
