Danny Dyer has said Prince Charles and Camilla “pulled it out the bag” for their cameo in the EastEnders jubilee special.

The episode, to be screened on BBC1 on June 2, will see the royals join the residents of Albert Square as they stage a street party.

Dyer, who plays Mick Carter in the long-running soap, said he was impressed by the couple’s acting.

Speaking to the Standard at the launch for The Flight Attendant season 2 in London, he said: “They were really good, they pulled it out of the bag.

“We had 20 minutes with them. We rehearsed it, they got out of the motor, we did it and then they left.”

In the episode, which was filmed in March at the Elstree set, Charles and Camilla will be given a warm welcome by Mick and Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) before being introduced to some of the locals.

The London-born star recently announced he is quitting EastEnders after almost a decade.

Since joining in 2013, he has been part of some of the show’s biggest storylines including a battle with alcoholism that nearly cost his character his life, the breakdown of his marriage to Linda and a harrowing tale of childhood abuse which resulted in him fathering a child underage.

On his decision to leave Walford, Dyer simply said he felt “it was just time”.

His exit will give him more time to spend with his family, including wife Joanne Mas and his former Love Island star daughter Dani Dyer who is mum to his one-year-old grandson Santiago.

He is also currently filming for new gameshow Cheat on Netflix alongside co-host Ellie Taylor.

While no stranger to the genre as host of BBC’s The Wall, he said he is really relishing this particular opportunity.

He explained: “Listen, I never thought I would be a gameshow host and I love it. This one’s more suited to me, I can swear and be a bit more me self. It’s about human behaviour and people cheating their way to money.

“You’re allowed to cheat and it’s like a game of poker, as long as you don’t clock people cheating or don’t get caught, you win loads of money.”
