Danny Dyer forks out thousands for high-spec home gym he doesn't even use

Danny Dyer has spent a fortune on a state-of-the-art gym – but won’t use it because he thinks exercise is “b******s”.

The Scared of the Dark host, 45, forked out thousands for the posh studio, in the garden of his Essex home, in a bid to shift a few pounds.

But the former EastEnders actor admits that he hasn’t even set foot in it.

Danny said: “I had a gym built and my intention was to start running. [But now] I don’t think it’s good for the heart. Exercise… I think it’s b******s.”

Danny, who has three children with his wife Joanne Mas, came up with the idea to get fit quick after his eldest – Love Island star Dani, 26 – told him that she was worried about his health.

But instead of pounding the treadmill in his own private gym, he is now relying on a mix of yoga and intermittent fasting to shed some weight. Danny told how he has lost 7lb by starving himself for 16 hours a day.

But he refuses to give up his guilty pleasures – “Stella and crackers” – and revealed that he’s a regular at his local carvery when he’s not eating at home.

Straight-talking Danny said: “My wife, sometimes she cooks me dinner. But if she’s cooking it with anger and banging pots around, it just tastes like s***.

“There’s a place called the Toby Carvery and you have to queue up for a roast… I’ve got a platinum card!”

The star – who played doting dad Mick Carter in EastEnders – will be sharing his love of fine dining with his daughter in a new four-part series, Absolutely Dyer: Danny And Dani Do Italy, which kicks off on E4 at 9pm tonight.

During a road trip around the country, Danny will showcase Italian cuisine and culture in a bid to educate Dani – who thought Tuscany was in America.
