Danny Dyer has described working on EastEnders as "f***ing hard" and revealed that he misses his colleagues from the show following his departure a few months ago.
The actor, 45, played Mick Carter on the BBC soap opera from 2013 until his departure last year. His character was last seen on screen in December, nine years after his debut.
His exit storyline saw Mick head into the sea to rescue ex-wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) after she ended up in the water with Janine Butcher ( Charlie Brooks ).
Mick however went missing out at sea and has been presumed dead. Danny has spoken about his departure on The Jonathan Ross Show, for an episode airing this weekend.
Danny said about having been on EastEnders for almost a decade: "It's a very emotional thing, it's such a big part of me." He went on to tease that it's a "hard" job though.
He explained whilst a guest on the ITV chat show: "I tell you what it is, I'm lazy. It's f***ing hard." He continued: "Thirty pages you've got to learn a day. It's like a film a week."
Discussing his final scenes, he said: "We did the exteriors in the sea and the interiors you go to a water tank." He suggested it wasn't very glamorous filming such scenes.
The actor said: "It's all warm and lovely but to make it look like the sea they put broccoli juice in it. You smell of a***. [...] Warm broccoli juice. It was very emotional, but I stunk."
Danny revealed that he misses his colleagues from the show, though said: "But it's a new chapter for me." It was teased that his character could return someday though.
Jonathan Ross, 62, noted that Mick's body hasn't been seen. Danny said: "If it goes t**s up I can go back. I can turn up in three years' time, walk in the Queen Vic smothered in seaweed…"
He said about his exit: "I just wanted it to be exciting and quite cinematic. It went down really well, a lot of people were quite touched by it. [...] It really upset them."
And he further commented about his experience on the BBC soap opera: "I'm very privileged and grateful for that job. It really did change my career and my life."
The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday night (February 25) on ITV and ITVX from 9.40pm. EastEnders continues on Monday (February 27) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 7.30pm.
