Danniella Westbrook surgery journey - nose collapse, horror surgery to crumbling cheeks

Danniella Westbrook is unrecognisable from the fresh-faced actress, who rocked up on EastEnders in 1990.

The Sam Mitchell star, 49, shot to fame as Phil and Grant's little sister, amassing thousands of fans across the country.

But after a well-publicised battle with cocaine, she was more famous for her nose, or lack of, when shocking photos emerged of the actress missing a septum.

Danniella has since embarked on a plastic surgery "nightmare", going under the knife numerous time in a bid to restore her face.

However, after admitting she 'wanted to die' after her latest op, which left her bloodied, bruised and 'disappointed', it seems the star's cosmetic journey isn't over quite yet.

Missing septum

By 1999, Danniella's drug addiction meant her septum rotted away and her EastEnders scenes had to be filmed from above to hide her nostrils.

She eventually had to leave the soap as her partying and addiction took over her life after a now infamous picture of her at the British Soap Awards captured just how much of her nose had rotted away from the drugs.

The star began to embark on a series of cosmetic procedures to restore her nose, speaking on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2016: “When I got over a drug addiction, I then swapped that addiction for a cosmetic surgery addiction."

Crumbling cheeks

As well as her nose, Danniella's cheekbones began to break down from snorting cocaine laced with a tranquilliser more typically used on cattle.

In a 2018 interview, she revealed her cheekbone was “wasting” away despite and that the left side of her face was completely “sunken”.

Other days her cheek would swell up in agony as her bones were “decaying” and “weakened”.

Rib inserted into her face

Last year, Danniella was reported to have had part of her rib inserted into her face as part of reconstructive surgery.

She previously underwent a rib insertion procedure in 2018, after osteoporosis rotted away her cheekbones and gums.

The gruesome sounding procedure is just one of a long list of surgeries the star had, which also involved her having her teeth removed...

Rotting gums

Following a bout of osteoporosis, the star said she had been left with screws instead of teeth, which cut her tongue as she spoke.

Trying to get on top of the problem in 2018, she confessed that a botched surgery in 2015 had led to horror complications. "I just don’t look like myself any more," she told the Mirror.

"I did nearly die, I had two lots of IV drips in each side and then they took all my teeth out again and gave me this denture, which has broken my heart because I didn’t need all of my teeth out in the first place."

Turned down £500k of surgery on NHS

Danniella has had five surgeries in Turkey, but was offered around £500,00 of facial surgery to repair her ravaged face on the NHS.

The operation was supposed to have rebuilt her damaged cheekbones and reform her collapsed nose.

However, the actress decided to turn the offer down and get the work done in Turkey.

She told The Sun: "I was doing it in Liverpool with a professor there. I should have stayed with him but a friend convinced me to go to Turkey. It's my own stupid fault."

'Hole in the head'

Danniella had a thread lift, liposuction in her cheeks and lips, fat grafting on her chin and her jawline etched in Turkey in May this year.

However, Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a photo of herself taken before the surgery and said she couldn't believe what had been done to her.

Bloodied and bruised, she lamented: "Three months ago I looked like this and thought I looked awful. I'd give my world to look like this again.

"I can't believe what's been done to me with this surgery."

'Slapped' by surgeon

The former soap star travelled to Turkey to have the facial reconstruction surgery in a desperate battle to save her face, however Danniella said she'd been left traumatised after the operation, claiming it was performed without anaesthesia.

The actress told The Sun the surgeon even slapped her during the op, and her phone was confiscated by an assistant as she begged for him to stop.

Claiming the doctor “slapped me on the other side of the face”, Danniella said she was stitched back up by his medical assistant, and she was sent home with no pain relief or antibiotics.

She was later rushed to hospital in Portugal, where she said she began to lose sight in one eye.

'One last op'

Following her ordeal in Turkey, Danniella has vowed never to get have surgery in the country again.

However, she is not ruling out going under the knife again.

Explaining she wants to go to Liverpool to have her nose fixed 'properly', she told OK! magazine: "I’ve been waiting for nearly four years. So I’m going back to my surgeon in Liverpool to get my nose fixed.

They’re going to rebuild all the bridge in my mouth and build up the front of my nose. I need to wait to heal first, but I’ll be getting it done when I can.”

Heartbreakingly, Danniella has admitted she often 'hates what she sees when she looks in the mirror.'

Hopefully, she can begin to feel better as she look forward to her forthcoming nuptials later this year.
