Danniella Westbrook 'REJECTS eye-watering fee for major reality TV comeback'

Danniella Westbrook ruled out a return to television – seven years after she last appeared on the small screen.

The former EastEnders actress who played Samantha Mitchell in the BBC One soap on and off since 1990 has teased a potential return to the screen in recent years.

But it's been claimed that the former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant has ruled out one show due to having several others lined up throughout the year.

According to sources, Danniella, 49, had been asked to appear on E4's Celeb Cooking School and despite bosses being keen to secure her, she politely declined.

"Danniella was offered a really high fee to take part in the show," said a source.

They went on to tell The Sun: "Producers were adamant they wanted her for the new series and offered just over £15,000 to get her on board.

"Danniella had no choice but to decline the offer as it was a conflict of interest with other reality shows she has already accepted for later this year."

The insider went on to suggest that bosses on the show were upset that they couldn't make it work for Danniella.

Since walking away from EastEnders, Danniella has made very few appearances on television since returning for the funeral of her characters mum, Peggy Mitchell.

Previous stints included a short appearance on Hollyoaks as Trudy Ryan, as well as competing on Dancing On Ice back in 2010 and reaching the final of Celebrity Big Brother where she starred alongside the likes of Stephanie Davis, Scotty T, Tiffany Pollard, David Gest and Angie Bowie.

But during her appearance on the second series of I'm A Celeb in 2003, Danniella claimed she no longer wanted to be a "celebrity" and explained that she had ruled out a career in the public eye.

Reflecting on her marriage to Kevin Jenkins, she said: "I made a pact with Kevin [that] I would do no more TV work that would take me away from home.

"These days, I live an ordinary life, I work occasionally, but I also do the school run and laundry and prepare my family's dinner."

But since then, Danniella has appeared on stage in pantomimes as well as attempting to carve out a career as a DJ.

A representative for Danniella declined to comment when approached by The Mirror.

E4 have been approached for comment.
