Danniella Westbrook, 48, gets engaged to lover, 28, who is serving jail sentence

Danniella Westbrook has gushed she has got engaged to her younger boyfriend David who is currently serving prison time.

The 48-year-old former EastEnders star was thrilled to reveal her 28-year-old lover had actually popped the question on several occasions when she visited him in prison.

Although she’s waiting until he gets out of jail for him to officially get down on one knee, Westbrook has exciting plans for the future with her beau and hopes to wed in the Maldives.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Westbrook explained she has a big engagement ring and she is very excited for her partner to leave jail later this year.

“I’ve got a big ring that was made for me, and I wore it into the jail and David said ‘it was lovely but it’s not big enough’ so there is a bigger one coming,” she said to the publication.

Westbrook added: “He has asked me to marry him but I told him to wait until he gets home. He asks me all the time, he even asked me at the jail. He didn’t get down on one knee or anything but he’s like ‘we are getting married you know’.”

The former actress revealed the duo had actually met several years prior in Spain and they have kept in touch ever since.

She explained: “I wrote to him when I was poorly with the cancer cells saying ‘no hard feelings’ and he asked me to come in and visit him and we haven’t really looked back from there, and we’ve been together for a year or so now.”

Reflecting on their age difference, Westbrook also explained that she was simply “living the dream”.

When Westbrook marries her partner, it will be the third time the actress walks down the aisle.

Westbrook was first married to Ben Morgan in 1998 but split a year later.

In 2001, Westbrook married Kevin Jenkins but the pair split in 2014.

The Standard has approached a representative for Westbrook for further comment.
