Danilo makes Feyenoord admission amid Rangers transfer interest

Danilo has revealed he is "looking to the future" at Feyenoord despite transfer speculation over a move to Rangers.

The Brazilian striker, 24, has been named as a transfer target for Michael Beale this summer.

But in an interview with Feyenoord club media he suggested his full focus remained with the Dutch club.

After scoring in a 3-1 win in a pre-season match for the Eredivisie side, Danilo stated: "It's just the beginning."

We revealed that Rangers had opened talks with Feyenoord over a transfer move for Danilo. But it's understood the switch is on the backburner after the arrival of Dessers.

However, Rangers remain admirers of the player and could reignite interest at a later date.

Speaking to Feyenoord club media, Danilo said: "We bring in some new players, of course, it was different than last year.

"It's always good to have good players around. We have a good team.

"We have a good team and it's nice to play with Javairo [Dilrosun] and Igor [Paixao]. It's easy.

"In the front area, we already had a good connection in the forward area. The players that started were already here last year.

"It's just the beginning, of course, and we are looking to the future."

Meanwhile, Michael Beale has vowed to go "hell for leather" to reach the Champions League.

The Ibrox side enter the third qualifying round and will have to overcome both two-legged ties in that and the play-off round to make the group stages.

“We’re going hell for leather to get in the Champions League,” Beale said.

“If we get in and we do well, hopefully getting into Pot 3, that gives you a different thing altogether.

“If we don’t, then we go into a competition that we love, the Europa League. But the aim is to get into the Champions League and be in Europe after Christmas. That is the aim, I think, for every team in Europe but certainly for a Scottish team.
