Danilo, Dennis, Scarpa - Nottingham Forest injury update provided ahead of key Arsenal clash

Attacker Emmanuel Dennis has been back in training ahead of Nottingham Forest’s crunch clash with Arsenal.

The summer signing has not been included in the Reds’ last two match squads due to picking up a knock in training. But he could be available as an option for Saturday’s match against the Gunners.

Forest have had to contend with a significant injury list for much of this season, which has only added to the challenge of retaining their Premier League status. However, although head coach Steve Cooper remains without a number of long-term absentees, he has been boosted by having the likes of Ryan Yates, Cheikhou Kouyate and Willy Boly back for the run-in.

“Dennis is back in full training and looks good, which is good,” Cooper said ahead of this weekend. “Gustavo Scarpa is not so fortunate, he has picked up a little recurrence with his calf, so he’s not been with us for the last few days.

“We’ve got the usual knocks and niggles and fatigue that you get at this time of the season, which we’ve been managing for a while - every team will be the same. Apart from the long-term boys we’re OK.”

Midfielder Danilo was forced off late on in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea, having been a doubt to face Southampton prior to that due to a suspected hamstring problem. However, he is expected to be available for the Reds’ final home game of the campaign.

“Yeah, he seems OK,” Cooper added. “He’s been in training. It was more about after the Brentford game, but he managed to get through most of the Chelsea game and should be fine.”

Forest remain without Neco Williams, Scott McKenna, Jack Colback, Chris Wood, Dean Henderson, Omar Richards and Giulian Biancone. They are three points clear of the relegation zone with two matches remaining.
