In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Quinta Brunson shared that she had attempted to bring Daniel Radcliffe onto her ABC comedy show, Abbott Elementary. Brunson, known for her role on the show, revealed that the idea of Radcliffe playing the son of Mr. Johnson, the school janitor portrayed by William Stanford Davis, had come up in the writer's room. The writers had also tossed around the possibility of Niecy Nash playing Mr. Johnson's mother.
While it seems that Radcliffe won't be making a guest appearance on Abbott Elementary anytime soon, the actor and Brunson have previously worked together on projects like the 2022 film 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' and the TBS sitcom, 'Miracle Workers.' In fact, Radcliffe expressed his desire to star alongside Brunson in a romantic comedy during a recent interview with Variety.
Although a reunion between Brunson and Radcliffe remains uncertain, the creator of Abbott Elementary already has plans for guest stars in the show's upcoming third season. Taraji P. Henson and Ayo Edebiri, who portrayed Janine's mom and sister respectively, have been confirmed to return. Brunson shared her excitement about working with them, highlighting the importance of seeing Janine's family to fully understand her character.
Abbott Elementary, which recently celebrated a successful 75th Emmy Awards, where Brunson earned the Best Actress in a Comedy Series award, will be returning for its third season on Wednesday, February 7. The show received a total of seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and Henson was recognized with an Outstanding Guest Actress nomination.
Brunson expressed her gratitude during her acceptance speech, stating how much she loves working on Abbott Elementary and fulfilling her dreams of acting in comedy. She humbly admitted that she hadn't prepared a speech, as she didn't anticipate winning the award.
If you're a fan of Abbott Elementary, be sure to tune in for the premiere of its third season on ABC at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 7.
