Tottenham fans could be hit right in the pocket with Daniel Levy considering a season ticket price increase for next term.
The north London club are currently licking their wounds after sacking manager Antonio Conte, leaving Levy looking for his fourth manager in four years. The Italian was unable to end the club's trophy drought meaning fans haven't seen the club lift any silverware since 2008.
Frustration is growing, much of it directed at the man at the top, who has failed to deliver on the pitch. Fans have benefited from Tottenham's new state-of-the-art stadium, but the style of football has regularly been critiqued. Despite that, the Telegraph reports that Levy is weighing up whether to implement a sizeable price increase on tickets.
Tottenham's season tickets are already among the most expensive in the Premier League and a hike in costs, especially when many in the UK are feeling the pinch due to the cost of living crisis, would not be well received. The club had frozen their prices for the current campaign, but no announcement has been made going forward.
Fans who travel to the north London stadium also have no guarantee of Champions League football for next season. Tottenham currently have a battle on their hands to finish in the top four with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle hot on their heels.
Levy can also offer no assurances over the future of Harry Kane - the club's talisman and captain. His contract is due to enter its final 12 months and, with no manager in place and his wait for a first trophy still ongoing, the England star could opt for pastures new.
London rivals Chelsea announced their plans to increase season ticket prices last season, before they U-turned amid huge fan backlash. Tottenham could yet face the same problem with their hierarchy far from popular with sections of the supporter base.
Levy said following Conte's sacking: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
The chairman's priority now is identifying his next new manager with several names in the frame. A Mauricio Pochettino return has been touted whilst major names like Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, who has just been sacked by Bayern Munich, have been mentioned. Those with Premier League experience, namely Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi, are likely to be on the shortlist.
