Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has insisted Harry Kane can still win a trophy with the club, amid suggestions he would have to leave North London to achieve that goal.
England captain Kane has played in three cup finals for Spurs, but ended up on the losing side each time. They were beaten twice in the League Cup final - losing to Chelsea in 2015 and Manchester City in 2021 - while Liverpool got the better of them in the 2019 Champions League final.
Kane has been linked with a summer exit as he prepares to enter the final year of his current contract, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich among those said to be in the mix. Levy, however, has made the case for England's record goalscorer staying put.
"He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs," Levy told the Cambridge Union. "But being a legend is also important.
"The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur – he’s making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium."
Kane has spent his entire professional career on Spurs' books, making his debut in 2011. He broke Jimmy Greaves' goal record for the club earlier this season when netting against Manchester City, and is one of only three players to score more than 200 Premier League goals since the competition started in 1992.

Levy's comments come as Bayern, who have long been linked with Kane, have been warned off a move for the England skipper. Former Germany star Lothar Matthaus, part of the Bayern side beaten by Manchester United in the 1999 Champions League final, has questioned the wisdom of spending big on a player of Kane's age.
"I'm excited to see if a new striker comes along," Matthaus wrote in a column for Sky Deutschland. "Everyone is talking about Victor Osimhen for his sensational performance at Napoli. You never know if he can do that in Munich, but I think he would be a good fit.
"Randal Kolo Muani may need a little more room and space than a Bayern striker usually has, but he's also good in the box and could work in Munich. Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me.
"The price-performance ratio could speak for Niclas Füllkrug. He would probably be available for €20-25 million [£17.6m-£22m] and score 25 goals in Munich. He's already scored 20 times at Werder."
Kane still has an opportunity to end the current season by delivering Champions League qualification for Spurs, though their cup dreams are over for another year. Cristian Stellini's team sit three points outside the top four, but travel to face fourth-place Newcastle on Sunday.
