Daniel Levy has already outlined his thoughts on Tottenham transfer failings amid Luis Diaz move

Tottenham are yet to sign a player during the January transfer window and deadline day is quickly approaching for Daniel Levy to solve some of their problems.

Since the arrival of Antonio Conte, Spurs have seen improvements both on and off the pitch and are currently just two points off fourth place Man United, with two games in hand.

However, what has been made clear in recent fixtures is that the Lilywhites need fresh faces in their side to help them make a much needed step-up in quality.

Conte has already admitted that, "In the last years the level of Tottenham has dropped a lot," and it was something fans expected the January transfer window could be a starting point to improve.

However, with just a few days left until the window slams shut, no problems have yet been solved.

As with every transfer and especially having a manager like Conte in charge, Tottenham have been linked with various players throughout the window.

After the halfway point Spurs looked to be trying to make deals happen, with the likes of Adama Traore and Luis Diaz being heavily linked with moves to north London.

However, the hopes of the transfer window for the Lilywhites have come crashing down as Barcelona swooped in and are looking to complete a loan move for the Wolves star.

Diaz was also looking like a promising signing for Conte's side, but on Friday numerous reports came out regarding Liverpool's interest in the Colombian, which could mean another target out the window for Spurs.

Dusan Vlahovic was a player that had also been linked with a number of clubs, including Tottenham, but that move also didn't become a reality as the Serbian international heads to Juventus.

That's already three potential transfers Spurs seem to have missed out on, which will only darken Daniel Levy's mood after his previous statement during the Amazon All or Nothing documentary: "I get very frustrated if at the end of a transfer window the team is not in a better place than it started."

Improvements to the likes of Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Harry Winks show Conte has already had an influence on his new players, but even he has admitted that the current squad needs work if they are to compete with top sides.

"This club are on another level compared to us," the 52-year-old admitted after Tottenham's third defeat of the month to Chelsea.

Improvements on the pitch and adding quality to the depth of the Spurs squad is what they desperately need and Spurs are currently in danger of ending the transfer window in the same place they were when it opened.

Steven Hitchen, who is the director of technical performance for the Lilywhites, also had his say on the winter window in the documentary.

"[The] January transfer window is the worst window," he said "It's a window of opportunity, it's a window of panic, it's never a window to plan. I hate it.

"Tottenham's in a very fortunate position now where the profile of the club has increased so much and it's nice to know that the players you can attract now is miles away from where they were five years ago."

It is known that the January window is more difficult to do business in than the summer one, but it's no excuse as to why Spurs have gone 28 days without signing anyone.

Hitchen's statement may still be correct about the Lilywhites attracting players despite not having European football, because of the man in charge and facilities the north London club have. But it doesn't matter whether players are interested in making the move to N17 if the deals can't be agreed with other clubs.

There will be hope that there is work being done behind closed doors for Tottenham to get some signings done before the window slams shut on Monday.
