New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones completed 23 of his 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Jones was accurate and efficient, raising the level of play around him in the absence of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Devin Singletary. In fact, since Week 2, Jones has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL.
But among the biggest takeaways of Week 5 is what Jones did on the ground. On a surgically repaired knee, he rushed for 38 additional yards — a staple of what has been his game.
For the first time, Jones truly looked comfortable running around defenders. It’s that extra element that has been missing — or at the very least, lacking — over the first four weeks of the season.
Perhaps somewhat ironically, Jones’ comfort also translated to all-time Giants history as he became their first quarterback to eclipse 2,000 career rushing yards.
Daniel Jones became the first quarterback in Giants history to go over 2,000 yards rushing on that scoring drive.
Not just today, but for his career.

Giants legend Phil Simms is the next quarterback on the list behind Jones with 1,252 rushing yards.
Now at 2,022 career rushing yards, Jones is 21st on the Giants’ all-time list with Bill Paschal (2,057), Ron Dayne (2,067), and Rashad Jennings (2,095) within striking distance over the next few weeks.
