The New York Giants offense was exposed by the Dallas Cowboys defense last Sunday night in their deflating 40-0 defeat in front of the whole nation.
That dominating performance by Dallas has set a blueprint of sorts for other team to follow going forward. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones says the experience has him wary of what’s to come.
Buy Giants TicketsThe Cowboys were able to get pressure on the Giants mainly with their base defense, sacking Jones seven times and hitting him a total of 12 on the night.
Jones expects the Cardinals to duplicate the Cowboys’ plan.
“I’m sure they’ll come out ready to go and come out aggressive,” Jones told reporters on Wednesday. “They’re a fast defense, they play really hard and fly to the ball. So, I would certainly expect them to do that, and we intend on coming out the same way.”
The Cardinals are now coached by former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who is likely licking his chops as the Giants head out to the desert. Jones has seen this system many times and believes he is prepared.
“I mean, it’s the same system, obviously, with some different players and a few different things here and there. But it’s the same system and it’s good a system, so I’ll be ready for it,” he said.
Jones may be ready but is his offense line? The Giants struggled mightily in pass protection against Dallas and the Cardinals appear to be fairly adept themselves, coming off a six-sack performance again Washington in Week 1.
