Daniel James details how Jesse Marsch's positivity is helping Leeds United

Leeds United forward Daniel James has insisted that the squad have full belief in head coach Jesse Marsch. The Whites slipped into the relegation zone for the first time since October at the weekend following their 2-1 defeat away at Arsenal.

Marsch had a positive impact following his arrival at the club, guiding Leeds to a five-match unbeaten run, which looked as though it would be enough to stay in the division. However, results from elsewhere now mean that with three matches to go, the fight is well and truly on.

Some sections of supporters have criticised the style of Leeds performances in recent weeks, with goals having dried up since their 3-0 win at Watford in early April. Marsch’s side have scored just once in their last three matches, when Diego Llorente netted from a corner during Sunday's defeat at Arsenal.

But in an interview with BBC West Yorkshire Sport, James claimed that his positivity is what is needed in the situation they are in.

He said: “He’s super positive. I think he shows that to us and shows that in the media. When you’re in a difficult situation, the best thing is to be positive because any negative thinking is not going to help us stay in the Premier League. He’s been super positive and that’s all he can be.

“Of course [we believe in him], I think since he’s come in we had that five-game unbeaten run, but it doesn’t get talked about because the team’s around us also got points. They’ve done really well as well and that happens in football.

“But he’s been great since he got in to all of us and we fully believe in his beliefs.”
