Daniel Dubois is set to secure an undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk this summer.
The Briton fought Usyk in Poland in 2023 and lost in controversial circumstances, as a body shot that dropped the Ukrainian was deemed a low blow and the referee paused the fight to allow him to recover.
Usyk regathered himself and went on to stop Dubois, before then twice defeating Tyson Fury to become undisputed heavyweight champion.
Dubois has since picked up the IBF belt, after Usyk had to vacate in order to rematch Fury, and the 27-year-old made an emphatic first defence of that strap with a stunning knockout win over Anthony Joshua.
Dubois is now set to get a shot at revenge, with The Ring reporting that a deal is close to being finalised for the rematch to take place.
It’s believed that Dubois will fight Usyk on July 12 and the fight will take place on British soil at Wembley Stadium.
Dubois has not fought since that win over Joshua in September last year, having pulled out of a planned title defence against Joseph Parker in February after falling ill during fight week.
Usyk, meanwhile, will return to the ring for the first time since he beat Fury on points for a second time at the end of last year, cementing his place among the true greats of the sport.
Speaking in February, the 38-year-old suggested he has only two fights left before he retires, having already been undisputed at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.
"I think two years, one and a half [left in boxing]," Usyk said. "I feel great myself. I feel I have two fights to prepare [for], not more. Just two."
