Daniel Cormier slams Jake Paul amid $1million Paddy Pimblett sparring offer

Daniel Cormier has hit out at Jake Paul urging him to pay up and give Paddy Pimblett $1 million for a sparring clash.

YouTube star Paul recently defeated UFC legend Anderson Silva in his latest boxing fight, which saw rising prospect Pimblett come out and address the clash, accusing the American of "fixing" the showdown.

Paul reacted angrily to the allegation and suggested that Pimblett travels to his gym in Puerto Rico for a sparring session.

The notorious wager suggested that Pimblett would earn $1 million if he wins the session, but would be forced to enter Paul's fighter union if he loses. UFC legend Cormier, who has vocally criticised Paul in the past, believes Paul is playing games with the offer and believes Pimblett should be paid irrespective of the outcome.

“This dude be playing,” Cormier said during an episode of his RC & DC podcast when addressing the offer from Paul. “He always throws these large sums of money out, but there’s always a reel-in. This dude, Paddy Pimblett, is going to fight on Saturday and [Paul] is challenging him to a sparring match on Monday. You said you want to spar him, give him the million.

He continued, “Give him the money, it doesn’t matter. Why does he have to win? It’s a sparring match. In sparring there’s no winning and losing, you give the dude the money. Come on, who cares who wins? You want him to spar you two days after a fight, [he’s] fighting at 155, so it’s not like he’s going to be that big. Pay the dude a million dollars.”

Cormier has clashed with Paul in the past including when the pair nearly came to blows in an altercation at UFC 61, as the pair both stood cageside. Pimblett has accepted the offer from Paul, but proposed that the pair instead change the venue as a result of his upcoming contest with Jared Gordon at UFC 282 in Las Vegas this weekend.

Paul instead then proposed that the pair defer their sparring offer until January, when Paul is set to appear on Pimblett's podcast in the new year. But the Liverpudlian has claimed he could break the boxing rules of the session and attempt to throw kicks or even shoot a takedown.

“If I felt like it though, when I was sparring him I’d just pick him up and drop him on his head couldn’t I?," Pimblett said during the latest video on his YouTube channel. "You know what I mean? If I felt like it. I could just shoot in, pick him up, drop him on his fog, and then kick him in the face on the floor if I wanted to.

"You know what I mean? You want to have a real fight? I’ve said to him, ‘Come and spar me on the 12th in the Performance Institute in Vegas. I’m there on the Monday, come and spar me. Let’s do it'."
