Daniel Cormier praises Logan Paul despite bitter relationship with brother Jake

Daniel Cormier has hailed "amazing" Logan Paul's career in combat sports despite sharing a bitter feud with his brother Jake.

The UFC legend has had a mixed view on the Paul brothers after becoming embroiled in a heated altercation with Paul's brother Jake at UFC 261 last year having been heckled by the YouTube star. Despite his views on Jake, the pair are continuing to grow in the world of combat sports including Paul who has recently signed a long-term deal with the WWE after his stint in the boxing ring.

Cormier had vowed to fight Jake in an MMA cage during the confrontation but the content creator is currently focus on his boxing career, which has seen him win his first five fights as a professional. However the former UFC heavyweight champion has claimed Paul's preparations and training have been a superb platform for his start in wrestling promotion WWE.

"Logan Paul is amazing," Cormier said during a guest appearance on The Masked Man Show when discussing Paul's sharp rise in the organisation. "Love him, hate him, he is amazing. These kids are great athletes, but they're not limited in everything they do because of the financials that they made in the YouTube and everything else that they've done.

"Logan Paul isn't training by himself getting prepared from these matches. Logan Paul has a ring in his place, he has someone from the WWE in his place everyday preparing himself. He's not just by himself trying to get ready to wrestle. He's got the best of the best."

Paul is currently preparing for his huge third WWE appearance against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, which will take place on November 5. He has already made an impression on Cormier who is much more keen to speak about Paul than his brother Jake.

The pair clashed at UFC 261 and were separated by security after Cormier became angered with Jake's comments while commentating cageside. And the 43-year-old has explained what was said during their heated exchange which quickly went viral and began prompts for the pair to touch gloves.

“He’s like making faces at me and waving at me,” Cormier said Monday on his DC & Helwani ESPN show. “I’m like, what in the world is happening? What is happening? This 24-year-old kid is heckling me. He’s like a troll but like a famous troll. I go, ‘Don’t mess with me. I’m not a kid to play with like this. I’m not gonna be on the internet messing around and all this other stuff.’ I go, ‘Keep my name out of your mouth.’

“I said, ‘I’m not gonna play your game.’ I said, ‘You’re gonna get yourself hurt messing around. I’m not gonna fight with you and play these public shenanigans.’ I go, ‘Keep my name out of your mouth.’ He goes, ‘Well, you said my name first.’ Don’t play with me. I’m not a kid to be messing with like that.”
