A major police manhunt has led to the capture of two men who escaped from the Palen Creek Correctional Centre.
One man remains on the run after the trio disappeared from the low-security prison close to the New South Wales border on Sunday afternoon.
The correctional centre is on the Mount Lindsay Highway near Rathdowney, a rural area roughly 100 kilometres south-west of Brisbane.
Queensland Police says that Daniel Ian Badcock, 32, is serving a one-year sentence for selling, possessing and/or using prohibited weapons/explosives and Osiah Pilton, 20, is serving a one-year-and-nine-month sentence for enter dwelling with intent.
At 10:00am Monday both were taken into custody at Northgate, north of Brisbane.
Antonio David Mene, who is serving three years for illegal use of a motor vehicle, is still at large.
The operation to track the fugitives down is being coordinated by regional police, with the help of the investigative branch of Queensland Corrective Services.
A Queensland Corrective Services spokesperson said the alarm had been raised when the three prisoners did not turn up for a 4pm head count on Sunday.
They said only prisoners who were deemed low risk were eligible for low-security prisons.
"Absconds occur occasionally from low-security facilities, which place more responsibility on prisoners to abide by the rules of the centre than on physical containment," they said in a statement.
Police are warning members of the public not to approach the men and to call triple-0 immediately.
