Dangerous Lions forward's positive injury update

Kai Lohmann could miss just one AFL game after the Brisbane forward was cleared of a serious ankle injury against Sydney.

The game-changing 21-year-old was subbed out in the first quarter of the Lions' win over the Swans at the SCG on Saturday after twisting his ankle in a tackle.

Brisbane had already scratched his fellow small forward Charlie Cameron from the line-up as a precaution after he suffered calf tightness, while pivotal defender Brandon Starcevich suffered his third concussion in the eight months during the match.

Lincoln McCarthy, another small forward, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament last week as he attempted to return from the same injury that had ruled him out of almost all of last season.

But the Lions breathed a sigh of relief on Monday when scans showed Lohmann didn't require surgery and should only miss one or two games with an ankle sprain.

The defending premiers host the beaten-up West Coast Eagles on Sunday at the Gabba.

It will be their first home game since winning the flag, after their opening-round clash with Geelong was postponed until round three due to Cyclone Alfred.

The Eagles were belted by 87 points at home against Gold Coast, the Suns' largest margin of victory since joining the league in 2011.
