A dismal run of results could lead to more than just a change of manager at Nottingham Forest.
Head coach Steve Cooper’s job is on the line after Monday night’s 4-0 thumping at Leicester City made it five successive defeats for the Reds. They are bottom of the Premier League table, having registered four points from their opening eight games.
However, the Welshman is not the only one whose future could be in doubt. NottinghamshireLive understands changes are being considered at boardroom level and within the club’s recruitment team.

Chief executive Dane Murphy, head of data and analytic recruitment George Syrianos and head of scouting Andy Scott are all understood to be at risk of the axe, with the focus on Forest’s recent transfer business. Twenty-two new arrivals came through the doors during the summer window as owner Evangelos Marinakis splashed the cash - but the results have been mixed when it comes to the impacts made.
And that has led to the prospect of key figures losing their roles in the coming days. Murphy’s position, in particular, is said to have been under threat for the past few months. The American was appointed CEO at the City Ground in July 2021, having left Barnsley.
Formerly head of analytics at Vfb Stuttgart, Syrianos is believed to have played a key role in the Reds’ recruitment drive as they prepared for life in the top-flight. Forest brought in a number of players from the Bundesliga, such as Taiwo Awoniyi and Moussa Niakhate - with some said to have been made on the recommendation of Syrianos.
It still remains to be seen whether Cooper will be in charge when Aston Villa visit the City Ground next Monday night. The likes of Rafael Benitez and Sean Dyche are already being linked as possible contenders to replace the Welshman, should Marinakis wield the axe.
