RTE Dancing With The Stars crew members under pressure as Covid-19 hits show

Dancing With The Stars boss Larry Bass has said crew members are under pressure to keep the show going, as the team are ”doubling up on their jobs”.

The Shinawil staff have been going above and beyond to keep the show on air, says Mr Bass - as cast and crew continue to be struck down with Covid-19.

Host Jennifer Zamparelli was forced to miss last weekend's show after contracting the virus. Her 2FM colleague Lottie Ryan stepped in with Nicky Byrne to replace RTE star Jen.

Mr Bass told the Irish Mirror: “We’re no different to any other industry, whether you’re a hospital or a bus service.

“It is impossible to run any type of business these days without being affected by the outbreak.

“We’re the same as every other industry. It isn’t easy when you’re dealing with a very streamline team. When you lose people last minute or even on the day of production, it’s tough.

“The crew have been fantastic. People have been doubling up on jobs while trying to do their own job all because people who tested positive on the morning of production, they can’t go to the studio.”

Meanwhile, RTE bosses are set to decide later this week on whether or not they will bring live audiences back to the dance show’s glitzy studio on Sunday night.

Currently only celebrities’ close family members are allowed to be in the studio.
