Dancing on Ice viewers slammed the decision to open the voting lines before any of the contestants performed.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presented the final episode of the series with The Vivienne, Joey Essex and Nile Wilson going head in a final effort to take the trophy.
But before any of them even hit the ice, the programme announced viewers would be able to vote for the favourites almost instantly. After the opening performance from the professionals, lines were opened with viewers branding the decision unfair, claiming it then became a popularity contest and not one based on talent.

One viewer said: "How can they open the vote when nobody has skated?" Another added: "How on earth can the #DancingOnIce vote be open before they've skated? It's not a talent contest. It's a popularity contest. Blatantly so!
While a third said: "Why is the #DancingOnIce vote open before the contestants have even started? Are they not even pretending they want a fair competition rather than a popularity contest?"
A final added: "Is Dancing on Ice a skating competition or popularity? Why is the voting open when nobody has skated yet?"
Nile was first to perform, followed by The Vivienne, which meant Joey had less time to impress viewers and gain their support than the acts before him.
