Dancing on Ice bosses were branded "brutal" on Sunday night (January 29) by host Holly Willoughby as they axed a regular part of the show. Holly and co-host Phillip appeared at the start of the latest episode to announce that this week, there would be no skate-off.
Ditching the skate-off, the Dancing On Ice answer to a Strictly Come Dancing dance-off between the bottom two celebrities and their pro partners, meant that instead whoever finished bottom of the table would be sent straight home. The presenters explained that would be no second chance for any stars to stay in the competition.
Clarifying what it meant for this week's Dancing on Ice result, Phillip said: "And more than ever, they will e hoping to bring the house down because tonight, there are no second chances.

"We'll combine the judges scores with your vote and then the lowest placed couple will go straight out of the competition. For one week only...there's no skate off to save them."
As the audience reacted to the news, Phillip's co-host Holly remarked: "I know, it's brutal." Viewers at home were not happy with the change.
@ThomDWTS tweeted: "I’m annoyed by the lack of a skate off tonight I always love to see what songs the couples get/choose for the skate off routines." And @AngelicSlayer18 wrote: "No skate off today and they are rushing the judges comments like crazy. They running late? If they cut out Phil and Holly's silly jokes they'd get through the show on time."
@Carole___M asked: "I wonder why there is no #skateoff on this weeks #DancingOnIce. Seems strange to suddenly ditch the tried and tested format they've had all these years."
@Survivinthe20s commented: "They could squeeze a skate off in, if they dropped a few ads...just a suggestion." And @SidShorthouse fumed: "No skate off. No point."
