Dancing on Ice's The Vivienne suffers fall days before final and warns of skating 'danger'

The Vivienne suffered a ‘tumble’ ahead of the Dancing on Ice final this week, as the RuPaul's Drag Race star goes head to head with Joey Essex and Nile Wilson.

The 2023 grand finale this Sunday will see the three finalists each perform three routines in one last grudge match for the ITV talent competition trophy.

The Vivienne, who is called James Lee Williams out of drag, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday from the show’s ice rink, alongside Joey and Nile.

Speaking with hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard in the ITV studio, The Vivienne admitted she had a fall to the ice in recent days in training.

Ben asked: “How are you feeling? Are you up and running and ready to go?”

The Vivienne said: “We’re literally dancing on ice so you fall, we’ve all fallen multiple times and our pros fall.

“You watch the Olympics and they fall. You’ve just got to get up.

“It’s the danger of the ice and it’s a testament to what every competitor – us three and everyone’s who's gone – of what we’re putting our bodies through in the name of entertainment. I've just loved every minute of it.”

Good Morning Britain then played a clip from the semi-final, when the star took a nasty tumble during the Solo Skate alongside Joey, Nile, Siva Kaneswaran and Mollie Gallagher.

A wincing Ben said: “It does look like your knee takes a massive clatter,” and The Vivienne laughed, saying: “They did, but you’ve just got to carry on.

“I’ve been training with knee pads and it’s just one of those things. You’ve got to hope it doesn’t happen on the night.”

The Vivienne first shot to fame after taking the drag world by storm and landing the winning spot on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019.

Now the glamourous star is hoping to bag yet another win – this time on this year's Dancing on Ice 2023.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press ahead of the final, The Vivienne and her skating partner Colin Grafton spoke about the final three skates ahead of them that stand between the partnership and the Dancing On Ice trophy.

She said: "I just think it's great that we are in the final and that we get to represent and show that drag is something that should be enjoyed not feared because there are far more important matters in the world going on than drag."

"I never would have believed it could have happened," The Vivienne added as she reflected on making it to the final.
