Dancing on Ice's Siva Kaneswaran suffers concussion after horror fall days before ITV debut

The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran has concussion after a horror fall just days before his Dancing On Ice debut.

The singer will be performing this weekend on the ITV1 show alongside his professional partner Klabera Komini but he nearly didn't make it onto the ice at all, after he hurt his head in a horror fall earlier this week. Siva explained that it had really "shaken his confidence" but he was determined to get back on the ice and perform to his best.

Siva explained that whilst he was seen by a medic, he was allowed to stay at the rink and didn't need to head to hospital.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, he said: " Friday just passed, I had a serious fall, I hit the back of my head so I've been diagnosed with a mild concussion as of today. To get back on the ice it can really shake your confidence.

"But I expected this and we're just trying to stay focused and determined and I know that this is part of the whole journey."

Thankfully Siva didn't need to go to hospital and was instead seen by a medic on site.

"No, luckily we have a medic beside the rink and we have a physio in the building too," he added, "So they had my blood pressure, blood taking and they checked my eyes, so they were all there. I'm still here and I'm OK."

Siva previously explained he wanted to do the show to face his fears, especially after the tragic death of his bandmate Tom Parker.

"I've decided this year to do a lot of things that I’d never do and face my fears. Obviously, this year has been eye opening for me with Tom and witnessing his courage, which was infectious to say the least," he said.

"It reminded me that life was worth living and to take it all and to enjoy it. From that, I’ve been making decisions based on that - doing my driving test finally in Los Angeles, booking the flight I wanted to always go on, and signing up to a songwriting degree course. In comparison, it’s just not as scary anymore, all my fears have shrunk."

He added: "I’m grateful for everything that comes at me and this is another thing that has come my way. Bring it, let’s have fun with it and put on those Spandex! I don’t have a good sense of balance, I fall over a lot and I’m quite clumsy."

*Dancing on Ice starts Sunday January 15 at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
