Dancing on Ice's Phillip Schofield could be replaced by Amanda Holden if Covid forces him out

Amanda Holden could be in line for a shock new role as host of Dancing on Ice if coronavirus forces Phillip Schofield out of this Sunday's live show.

Late on Monday night, presenter Phillip took to Instagram to post a picture of a lateral flow test with two clear red lines on and captioned it: "Well b***ocks," before adding: "Currently just a slight sore throat."

Alison Hammond was called up to stand in for Phillip on Tuesday's This Morning and she and co-presenter Rochelle Humes crossed live to Phillip at the start of the show.

While he told them he "didn't even have a sore throat," he did raise concerns it would be 'touch and go' whether he'd be able to host Dancing on Ice on Sunday.

To join Holly Willoughby on the ITV show at the weekend, he'd be relying on negative LFTs on days five and six.

And, according to The Sun, if Phillip can't do Dancing on Ice, bosses are keen to emulate Strictly Com Dancing by having two female presenters.

One of the contenders to stand in alongside Holly is long serving Britain's Got Talent judge and Heart Radio presenter Amanda, with both Alison and Rochelle also said to be in the frame.

A source told the paper: ...while Dancing on Ice’s bosses are gutted to see Phillip forced to temporarily step out of hosting duties, that also presents an opportunity to have two women front the show.

“Producers have seen the energy that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have brought to Strictly and they’re curious to see how Holly bounces off another female presenter."

However, it sounds like that replacing Phillip would be very much a last resort, a as the source then added: "But there’s no question of Phillip not returning. He’ll be champing at the bit to get back to work.”
