Dancing on Ice's Michelle Heaton backed by former champion after 'honest' training admission

Michelle Heaton has received the backing of Dancing on Ice's longest serving professional skater Matt Evers, after she made an 'honest' admission on how training has been going so far, weeks on from ending up on crutches following a painful fall on the rink.

IT was back at the end of autumn that Liberty X star Michelle was announced on the line-up for the new series of the hit ITV show, with the Gateshead born entertainer joining the likes of Love Island winner Ekin-Su, Coronation Street star Molly Gallagher and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson.

On taking part in the show, Michelle said; "I’m so excited - I can’t believe it. Me and the kids are such huge fans of the show.

"I’ve always wanted to do it but I know I would never have been able to complete anything because of the way I was 18 months ago, so I’m really truly grateful that I’ve got it this year when I’m a lot stronger."

The first official photos of Michelle, together with Dancing on Ice pro partner Lukasz Rozycki were released late on Wednesday night and sharing one, alongside one of her in an eye-catching ice skating costume, Michelle admitted to her many Instagram followers that se had taken a few tumbles in training.

The 43-year-old wrote: "Not gonna lie, It’s not been the easiest thing to learn to do in my ‘40’s! #fallallot. But with the patience and support of @icelukasz I’ve totally fallen in love with ice skating, I really couldn’t wish for a better partner.

"We both cannot wait for the show to start next weekend!"

Michelle added: "The cast, crew and pro skaters are all amazing and honestly the nicest bunch of people to work with. I can’t wait for you to see what we’ve all been working very hard on!"

Among the many people to respond to Michelle's post was Matt Evers, who has won the show before with Hear'Say star Susanne Shaw, as well as being one half of Dancing on Ice's first all male couple, with H from Steps.

Matt told Michelle: "Proud of you friend!" while 2021 finalist Kimberley Wyatt responded: "How exciting!!! Not long now!"

In the run up to Christmas, Michelle ended up on crutches after a painful fall on the training rink. Sharing a photo of her on crutches on Instagram, Michelle wrote: "We get back up, we carry on, what doesn’t break us makes us stronger .. gonna take a hell of allot more then this to keep me off the ice!"
