Dancing On Ice's Matt Richardson rushed to hospital with brain infection

Matt Richardson has been rushed to hospital after suffering a brain infection, which has caused him to suffer with memory loss.

Dancing on Ice star Matt, 31, shared the worrying news with fans in an Instagram post.

He shared a photo of himself smiling next to his brother in front of a stage at a Green Day concert in Marlay Park, Dublin.

Matt then revealed that he can't remember anything from the event as he had suffered with an infection, which had also caused swelling on his brain.

He wrote: "My brother and I went to see Green Day in Dublin last week.

"And I sadly can’t remember it as I’ve had a lovely infection which caused some wonderful swelling around my brain the last few days.

"After a really cool trip to hospital I’m trying to piece it all together again. Hopefully the memories come back but if I owe you money, sorry you’re on your own x."

The comedian and Dancing on Ice star was flooded with concerned messages from friends and fans in the comments section.

Laura Whitmore wrote: "Hope you’re ok!!! X". While a fan echoed with: "Hope you’re ok Matt".

"Hope you’re alright mate, get well soon", a third wrote followed by a yellow heart and fist bump emoji.

Fans flooded the comment section with messages of support for Matt (2018 David M. Benett)

Matt, who competed on Dancing on Ice in 2021, had clearly enjoyed the concert at the time as the photo shows him smiling alongside his brother.

Following the trip, Matt's brother also shared photos of the pair together on his Twitter and wrote: "Had a brilliant few days away in Dublin with @MattRichardson3 to see @HellaMegaTour with @GreenDay @falloutboy @Weezer".

The comedian appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2021, but he is best known for his time on The Xtra Factor, where he presented alongside Caroline Flack in 2013.

Following her tragic death Matt, who replaced Olly Murs on the spin off show, had a sweet bond with the late presenter, with her sweetly referring to him as a "bit of a dork".

Following his death Matt, who would often appear on Aftersun as one of Caroline's guests, recalled how nasty comments would ruin her night.

During Almost Famous podcast, he said: "You're getting 50,000 tweets a night, you really become obsessed with it. It's really easy to get stuck in.

Matt hailed the star as 'kind, loyal and funny' after her death (PA)

"Even back then I would really disagree with her with it because as soon as the break happened, she would be on her phone and looking.

"Whereas I would never bring my phone in, 'I'll do the show and then look'. Caroline always found it and it would really ruin her night, even if we had a great show."

He added: "It was frustrating, she's always had a thick skin, but there's only so much you can take before it wears you down."

Following her tragic passing, Matt described her as a "complicated person", Caroline's former colleague said she was "kind, loyal and savvy".
